Our own agency site, and the free 44 game browser arcade we built to give people a reason to visit. Measured in real people, not hits, with the gap in the data shown rather than filled in.

01 / The starting pointAn agency nobody had heard of

Watchroute is our own agency, and this site had the same problem as every new local business site: nobody knew it existed. When we started measuring real visitors in May 2026, it was recording about ten a month.

Rather than only publishing service pages and waiting, we built something people would come back for and send to their friends: a free browser arcade of 44 original games, written in house, playable on a phone or a laptop with nothing to install.

Cloudflare Web Analytics, bots excluded, rounded by Cloudflare's sampling. The browser beacon recorded nothing in July, so July is shown as a gap rather than guessed.

By August and September the site was recording about 560 and 540 real visits a month. 56% of visits were on a phone, which is why every page and every game is built to work at phone width first. Google search sent about 120 of those visits on its own.

The arcade did its job. At least half of all page views were in the games, and the arcade hub is the most visited page on the site after the home page.

03 / The measurement lessonWe report people, not hits

This is the part of the study we would most like a business owner to read. In September 2026, three different numbers could honestly be quoted for this one site:

94,041Requests to the site, counted at Cloudflare's edge
5,401"Unique visitors" in the same edge report
About 540Real people who loaded a page in a browser

The first two include search engine crawlers, uptime monitors, scrapers and bots. Only the third is people. A report that leads with requests or edge "visitors" can look ten or a hundred times better than reality without a single false number in it. Every figure in these case studies is the third kind. If your current reports do not say which kind they are quoting, that is worth asking about.

04 / What we would do for youThe same plan for a local business

  • Give people a reason to visit that is not a sales page: a calculator, a guide, a free tool your customers actually use.
  • Build for the phone first, because that is where more than half your visitors are.
  • Report real people every month, separately from bots, with the gaps shown rather than filled in.

What this means for you

Start with the same measuring we do on our own businesses.

The $150 audit checks the three things every result above depends on: whether your email reaches the inbox, whether your enquiry form actually delivers, and whether your ad tracking actually records the enquiries it is paid to find. You get a written report either way.
